In fact, most medicines are prescribed as a result of some food deficiency, or more commonly for over-consumption. There are many instances in which blood pressure medication is often prescribed when diet alone could alleviate the issue. So why is food often the last thing that athletes consider?

Because it is hard!  If you read my biography on the About ESP page, you’ll have learned that I was a competitive bodybuilder for over 5 years. It’s that in-depth experience that informs the individualized Performance Enhancing Nutrition guide we put together for each of our athletes.

The one thing that bodybuilding taught me, more than any other sport, was that the best way to waste a great workout is to eat poorly before or after the effort. Eating is crucial, but what may be just as important to what we put into our body is when we put it there.  Does a carbohydrate have the same effect on the body at 7:00 A.M. as it does at 7:00 P.M.?
